The South African Society for Research in Music (SASRIM) invites you to its 2017 annual congress. The conference is open to anyone to attend, and we particularly invite undergraduate and postgraduate students join us for the four days’ proceedings.
The conference explores multiple facets of music research and practice on the African continent, disciplinary intersections, and perspectives on the boundary between ‘music thinking’ and ‘music making’. This year, SASRIM will also present an African Music Meeting in conjunction with our annual congress. This event will bring together performers, educators and scholars from across the African continent for collaboration and interchange, performances, lectures and workshops.
The keynote speaker will be Professor Sylvia Nannyonga-Tamusuza (Her bio is available here. We are also pleased to welcome music education specialist Professor June Boyce-Tillman as special guest speaker at the 2017 congress.
